Valley Oaks (VO) Chapter CDS Meeting Minutes Date: March 19th, 2009 Location: Fat Mike’s Pizza
Meeting called to order @ 7:30pm Members/Guests Present Cindy Luellen, Kathie Sebastian, Michelle Pappone-Beedy, Donna M. Holmes, BJ Stevens, Suzanne Breen, Cheryl Capilla, Sandi Carlone & Michele Vaughn
Approval of Prior Minutes Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report Balance as of March 19th, 2009 = $3,859.50 Treasurer report read & approved (Cindy Luellen)
Old Business VO Schooling Show & Ribbons: We have 15 ribbons left from prior shows. To hold a schooling show we need to order ribbons & secure an EMT (What is cost for EMT?). After discussion on whether to go ahead with holding a schooling show or not, it was decided that we will not hold a schooling show this year and instead focus on holding an educational clinic.
VO Proposed Clinic with Seana Adamson: Further information was shared & discussed about the possibility of holding this clinic. It was decided that we will put this clinic on and the location will be held at Starr Vaughn. It will be two separate days. October 17th (Saturday) will be the all day seminar. Cost to be determined by next meeting. The second day is strictly a one-on one either private counseling session (1 hour) for $125.00 or a private riding lesson (45 minutes) for $100.00. If we do not have a minimum of 6 interested people for the second day we will need to cancel. If stabling is needed the person will need to contact Starr Vaughn Eq Facility to make arrangements. Michele V. and Cindy will work on the flyer and coming up with cost for participant for the seminar portion. Suzanne will put together the known expenses to date of holding both days and all of this info to be brought to next meeting to firm up expenses and cost to be charged. It was also discussed that even if there is a small loss on holding this event the intent is for educational purposes in the local dressage community.
New Business April CDI show: Valley Oaks club will volunteer for set up and take down duties to help out with this show. No monies will be taken for this. It is strictly volunteer. Set up is Tuesday, March 31st (around 3pm). Take down is Sunday April 5th (around 2pm). To help out with this show contact Cindy Luellen. Also at the April CDI show there will be a Silent Auction to benefit the FEI JR/YR team. If you are interested in making a donation to this auction, contact Michele Vaughn.
Valley Oak Board Members need to sign a Code of Conduct with CDS.
Additional questions to ask Seana about the clinic are: Does she need a deposit for the clinic? Do we need to sign a contract? Would overnight lodging at Starr Vaughn Guesthouse be okay?
CDS Plates: Michele Vaughn will follow up with Paula at the March CDS meeting to see if the CDS Plates are available. Next meeting set for Thursday, April 30th @ 7:30pm at Fat Mike’s Pizza (Sheldon location).
