OLD BUSINESS
Donation Club 100
VO Chapter donated in 2008 and 2009. $500 in 2009 from tear down of CDS show all went to Juniors.
Do we donate to Club 100 this year or consider donating to Juniors directly?
Club 100 was originally for educational activities for Juniors. VO was formed to provide and support educational activities for riders. Club 100 is now more scholarship focused and requires an application process.
CDS is not doing education for juniors direct to shows.
Money to Juniors can go directly and we can also get publicity for the chapter in the show programs. We are interested in getting the Chapter name out in front of new prospective members.
Heidi suggested that we balance the donations between Juniors and Amateurs.
Patti moved to donate $300 to Juniors for shows. Motion was passed.
Scholarship money from 2009
Michelle P-B mentioned that we don’t know what we are getting back from Scholarship in 2009. Believe it is $661.
Michele Vaughn will check to see if we are getting it back.
Peggy Klump Clinic
Weekend October 30 & 31 (Sat/Sun)
Sue Breen will work on a scholarship.
Should it be one or two days? Sat/Sun or Fri pm/Sat?
Sue Breen will go to Peggy for proposals – will bring back 3 options.
What do VO members want?
o Main suggestion – From the Judges View
RAAC
This is a competition, not a championship
StarrVaughn on July 30-31
Foothills Chapter hosting the RAAC. They are earning money for their chapter by getting sponsors. CDS pays for the Ribbons and prizes, Show Fees go to the Show Management. Chapter gets to keep dollars earned from sponsors.
VO could host or co-host the RAAC in the future.
Can also consider doing co-shows (e.g. RAAC and Jr Champions at same time)
VO members had some concern about doing a kids show simultaneously with an adult show. The kids shows require a lot more coach supervision and logistics.
This won’t happen for 2010 because Pat Adams has CDS Show date, but this is something to consider for the future. Gives junior riders chance to see the adult riders in the RAAC (up to Pre-St. George and I1).
For 2011, there is a proposal to consider including I2 and GP. VO members would like to see I2 and GP added for 2010. This could be communicated to CDS members with a card mailing.
NEW BUSINESS
Clinic at StarrVaughn with Charlotte Bredahl

Rachael Saavedra at StarrVaughn
Heidi reported the Rachael could consider something for next year.
We need to decide on the time of year. SV is full on weekends.
Need 8-10 participants.
Could do mid-week as a consideration if we can get the clinicians.
Need to discuss further in one of our meetings.
Junior Champions – Rancho Murietta
August 6-7-8
Looking for volunteers
Contact Mary Schraeder
Volunteering – as it relates to Adult Amateur Clinic
What should the criteria be – min 4 hours of volunteer work or do we want it to be by the activity?
Michele Vaughn will look up the old rules
We will revisit in the April or May meeting and will put rules in writing on our website.
Some considerations:
o Are members excluded if they went last year?
o Horse has to be sound
o Do we need Bio on both the horse and the rider? So they are selected as a team?
o Should members be required to attend at least one meeting during the year?
Goal of changing the rules –
o Get to know the members better
o More clarify on what qualifies as volunteer work
o More involvement by members
o Attract more members to VO
Agreement – we want to find out what other chapters do for the selection process.
Members need to consider:
o How do we attract more members to VO?
o Clear, defined published criteria for selection for Adult Amateur for clinic.
Valley Oaks – Mission
Original mission – To promote educational activities for all aspects of dressage
Heidi requested that we discuss the mission at our April 15 meeting.
Next meeting – April 15 at Fat Mikes
Meeting Close
Michele Vaughn moved to close the meeting. Second by Michelle P-B. Motion passed and meet was adjourned.
